Canteen

Seaham Public School Canteen operates three days per week.

The canteen is solely reliant on volunteers to operate for the benefit of the school and the children.

Profits made from the canteen assist the P&C Association to provide funding for school resources and equipment. 

 

Canteen schedule:

Monday - CLOSED

Wednesday - lunch orders and snacks, drinks & cold treats Break 1. Closed Break 2.

Friday – Closed

Tuesday and Thursday – Break 2 only - snacks, drinks & cold treats available. No lunch orders.

 

Reusable Lunch Order Bags: The reusable lunch order bags are now available for purchase from the school office for $10.50. Colours available include pink, purple, blue and green.

OR

Lunch orders please write your child's name, class and order on a paper bag. Place money securely inside the bag and take the bag to the canteen when you arrive at school. Change will be taped to the lunch order bag. Please include an extra 10c if you do not have a lunch bag and we will provide one for you.

 

The Fresh Tastes NSW Health School Canteen Strategy requires all NSW government schools to provide a healthy, nutritious canteen menu in line with the Australian Dietary Guidelines for Children and Adolescents. In line with this, our Canteen provides a variety of nutritious lunches, drinks, frozen lines and snack foods. A detailed price list is always available from the Canteen or click on the Price List link for current prices.

Please note:

  • lunches should be ordered prior to 9:00am and placed in slot in the canteen door. 
  • orders are to be written on a plain paper bag, clearly marked with the child's name and class. Money should be enclosed in the bag. If change is required it will be taped onto the outside of the bag
  • lunches are issued in class lunch box to a class representative

Note: Late Lunch orders will receive a simple sandwich

 

2019 Canteen Committee Positions:

Congratulations and thank you to all the new people who have taken on positions in our canteen committee for next year.  I would also like to thank the out-going committee members for your efforts over the last year.  

 

President:    Nat Meehan

Secretary:    Melissa Armer

Treasurer:    Lucy O'Brien

 A description of each role is listed below.

 

President:

The president has the responsibility to oversee the running of the canteen and ensure the fair participation of all members.  The president is also required to ensure that updates are regularly provided to the P&C and approval is sought for any changes.  The president runs the monthly meetings and is expected to exercise control over the meeting.

 

Secretary:

The secretary is required to attend all meetings and take notes of the discussions in order to produce a set of minutes for distribution.

 

Treasurer:

The treasurer is responsible for the financial management of the committee.  The treasurer receives and deposits monies, maintains records, draws cheques and presents accounts in the form of a report each meeting.  The treasurer must be available for banking deposits on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and is responsible for obtaining an external financial audit on all canteen treasury records to be completed by the AGM - December each year.  A background in basic accounting is helpful but not required.

 

Buyer:

The buyer is responsible for checking the stock levels in the canteen on a weekly basis and ordering stock replentishments and purchasing basic grocery items from the supermarket.

The buyer is also responsible for checking any new items meet the Fresh Tastes NSW Health School Canteen Guidelines before they are added to the canteens available items.

 

Roster Clerk:

The roster clerk is responsible for the preparation and distribution of the canteen roster each term.

 

 

Volunteers

Do you have some spare time? Would you like to put a smile on your kids dial?  Then look no further, loads of laughter, endless smiling faces, and guaranteed happy customers.  Come in and join the fun at the canteen.  Mums, Dads and Grandparents are all welcome.

 

We are always in need for new volunteers especially for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  If you are able to assist please contact Alison Taylor on 4996 4540 who prepares our rosters.  

 

All volunteers are provided a free lunch and an unlimited supply of tea and coffee.  

 

Please note that all new volunteers will receive orientation and training with a committee member.  You just have to let us know that you are a new volunteer when you speak to Peta or Alison.
