Climbing Area Upgrade - 2012

At the end of 2011 the P&C purchased a new climbing structure to be added to the area next to the existing climbing and play equipment.

Along with the new structure we agreed to replace all the softfall underneath the equipment and upgrade the surrounding area to ensure that the softfall didn't wash away in the first rain we had.

We also added 2 sandpits with covers to the area to make this a more comprehensive play area.

The structure was installed and the surrounding area upgraded to retain the new softfall in December 2011 and then in January and February 2012 the softfall was installed along with some finishing touches to the area.

In March we saw the new area opened for the children to play on, the feedback from the children is great.  We have seen the area utilised not only at recess and lunchtimes but classes utilising this during PE times and other freetimes as well.

In November the new area was utilised as part of one of the A-thon activities which was great fun.

Thank you to all the school parents and students involved in making this project come together.  We would also like to acknowledge the donations of time, labour and products from the following people as without your help this project would not have happened:

  • Andrew Hoddle - Suppling the climbing Equipment at significantly reduced cost
  • Rudd Plumbing and Excavation (Gary Rudd) - Drainage and surranding area preparation
  • Boral Concrete - Reduced cost of concrete to put climbing structure in place
  • The Tree Guy - Tree removal to clear area
  • Price Constructions (David Price) - Bobcat and time to clear area and spead softfall
  • Adam Hising - Construction of the surrounding retaining and seating areas.
